History-Sheeter Hitendra Singh, jailed under NSA for three months
Chhattisgarh Times Raipur: Ahead of assembly polls, District Magistrate Bilaspur P Dayanand took a major action, and booked alleged history-sheeter Hitendra Singh for his disorderly behavior in the city, under National Security Act (NSA) for the imprisonment of three months on Friday.
This is probably the first time when a history-sheeter is booked under NSA in the poll-bound state. P Dayanand took such rigid action, keeping in mind that nominations for the second phase of assembly elections has been started in the state including Bilaspur district.
According to information, several serious crimes including kidnapping, fraud, tax evasion and sale of illegal liquor has been registered against Hitendra Singh in various police stations of Bilaspur. Besides, eight other such cases have also been registered against him.
The action of the NSA is believed to be bigger than the District Magistrate, as the accused cannot be granted bail for three months after getting punishment under NSA. After getting the statement from TI of Sarkanda police station, the report was forwarded by the police department to District Magistrate P Dayanand for taking action under NSA.
After which, Dayanand immediately took action under section 3 (2) of the National Security Act, 1980 and sentenced him for three months of imprisonment in the Central Jail of Bilaspur.
