Farmers of Kumhari on ‘Jal Satyagrah’ demanding gangrel dam water supply to their village

Raipur: People of Khumari area are on a Jal satyagraha, under the Bharatiya Kissan Sangh, demanding supply of water from Gangrel dam to their villages. Agitated locals say that their demand is pending for long and farmers in the area are facing water shortage.
More than thousands of Villagers of Kumhari are boycotting this legislative polls and showcase peaceful agitation of Jal Satyagrah today at October first. Farmers of “Bhartiya Kisan Sangh” will protest at Kumhari for demanding gangrel dam water supply to their villages which is being pending since long.
Spokesperson of “Bhartiya Kisan Sangh”, Naveen Sesh informed that irrespective of any political affiliation or caste discrimination every individual present have gathered as common peasants for the sole cause of justice, which needs to be meted out to them in the form of irrigated water. The past two years have made them plead their concern in various government offices, concerned minister and even the Chief Minister but despite all efforts it has proved futile. Sheer insensitivity of the government has only been met by broken promises leave apart the financial assistance or water as committed to them.
Now they are a force to reckon with and firm on their stand of boycotting the assembly election. In this 21st century shunning of the electoral process by 42 villages would be a blot on democracy. They even pointed out that the government’s decision of smart phone and tiffin carrier distribution has costed the exchequer with massive financial burden on the state coffers so why not their “just demands” be taken care off? A question which needs to be answered by people sitting at the helm of things.
The meeting saw the once passive farmers sending out a strong message to the government for further intensive agitation with October first being set as “Jal Satyagrha Day” at the Kumhari water body. Around 1000 protestors had gathered in a show of unity who summed up the meeting by collectively submitting memorandum to the Governor and Chief Minister through Nayab Tehsildar, Prateek Jaiswal.
