State receives 15 national awards

Raipur: Chhattisgarh has created a new record after receiving fifteen national awards for its great performance in the Central schemes related to the village, poor and farmers at National Awards Distribution Function held in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Chief Minister Raman Singh expressed his happiness for receiving 15 National Awards together in various Central schemes. He said that this is a glorious moment and a new record for the state. He said that the state has done a great job in these central schemes related to the betterment of the village, the poor and the farmers.
Singh congratulated all the citizens of the state along with Panchayat and Rural Minister Ajay Chandrakar and the officials and employees associated with the department.
Chhattisgarh was rewarded with these national awards for its best performance in Prime Minister (Rural) Housing Scheme, Rurban Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, and Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA).
The Central Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar distributed prizes in the program organized at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Tomar expressed happiness over the fact that Chhattisgarh today is the state with the highest 15 national awards honored in the country.
Tomar praised the best performance of Chhattisgarh in the implementation of central schemes and congratulated all the officials of the department and the field staff including Chief Minister Raman Singh and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Shri Ajay Chandrakar for receiving these national awards.
A department official informed that the state received an award under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana for constructing 1700 kilometers road network in the difficult circumstances in the Naxal-affected areas of the state and to complete the construction of roads successfully and connect remote areas with perennial road links.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the state has bagged six awards in five categories. Chhattisgarh’s performance in this scheme was the best in the country. For this, the state was honoured with the first prize, said an official.
The state also bagged first prize under Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban Mission. An official from Panchayat and Rural Development Department said that in Rurban Mission, 16 districts of the state including Naxal hotbed-Bastar, Kanker, Rajnandgaon, Dhamtari, Kabirdham, Mahasamud are under this mission. Various development works are being organized in a phased manner. Under which development works has been done in three phases by making 18 rurban gram panchayat groups/clusters in 172-gram panchayats in these districts.
Under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNREGA), the state received the first prize in the Barefoot Technician Training (BFT) and second prize in Geo-tagging. On this occasion under the scheme under MNREGA, District Jashpur and Thakur Pyarelal Panchayat and Rural Training Institute of Nimora village in Raipur district were rewarded for excellent work in BFT training.
