Chhattisgarh Times Raipur: As per the notification issued by Raj Bhawan, the first session of the fifth legislative assembly of Chhattisgarh will be commenced on January 4. The newly elected MLAs will sworn-in in the upcoming session consisting of as many as six sittings.
Chhattisgarh Governor Anandiben Patel will address the first session of the fifth state legislative assembly on January 7. Later, on from 9 January to 11 January, the memorandum submitted on the Governor’s address will be discussed.
A supplementary budget will be introduced for the announcement made by the newly formed Congress government for loan waiver of farmers and purchase of paddy at the support price of Rs 2500. Besides, other important issues will also be raised in the house.
After the defeat in the assembly election, the BJP was in the power in Chhattisgarh for the last 15 years will now sit as opposition in the state legislative assembly. However, the leader of opposition is not yet decided yet.
Former chief minister Raman Singh, former agriculture minister Brijmohan Agrawal, state BJP president Dharamlal Kaushik, and former home minister Nanki Ram Kanwar are frontrunners for the position.
